If you’ve made it to this page, congratulations and welcome back to Valley Reality. My name is Matt Parker, a senior from Columbus, Ohio, who’s looking to make an impact on the world through storytelling – that’s personally what I like to call journalism.
While my passion lies in sports journalism (you may have seen some of my work on The Post, Ohio University’s editorially-independent, student-run newspaper), I am eager and optimistic to see what stories not only myself but my classmates can share to the world over the next month and change. For this blog, I want to share what I personally will be doing and give a bit of a behind-the-scenes look into the cog of Valley Reality.
I am a member of our social team where we have some exciting ideas on how to expand on the platforms we are currently on, and stepping into new media such as TikTok and Snapchat. Personally, one of the things I’ve been most excited about has been our daily posts on our Instagram page. We’ve come up with different hashtags for themes such as #ThankfulThursday and #MindfulMonday that are tailor-made to what Valley Reality is all about.
I am looking forward to these next couple of months and telling the stories of communities where their voices might not be heard. Be sure to follow along, and happy reading!
