Ohio University’s Gaming Research and Interactive Design (GRID) Lab opened in 2006 to help students and faculty alike explore new and emerging technologies such as virtual and augmented reality. Like the rest of the world, activities at the GRID Lab slowed due to the pandemic, but the faculty have found ways to keep their students engaged and interested in the lab’s technologies.
In separate interviews, GRID Lab Director John Bowditch and Project and Lab Manager Anthony Zoccola described the challenges they have faced this past year in running and operating a lab tailored to hands-on technology, which is not readily available nor affordable for much of the population.
