Chagas Disease is not widely researched because it impacts the lives of those not often given a voice. Ohio University students participated in a study abroad opportunity in order to help with researching this often unknown disease and help give hope to communities affected.

While Chagas Disease affects people around the world, a group of students and researchers from Ohio University went to Ecuador in order to help the communities there. While in Ecuador, students teamed with researchers to inspect people’s homes for the “kissing bug” and then the biology students helped to inspect the bugs for Chagas in the lab.
